Create a survey

Setting up a new Survey

To create a new survey you have to follow some basic steps:

  1. Open a page and add a survey macro either by typing “/survey“ or by adding it via the “+“ sign at the top of the page and searching for survey.

  2. You will see that there is a banner in the macro. However, you can not click on “Edit”. Just publish the page.

  3. Click on Edit on the published version of the page. This will then open the Survey Creator.

It can be possible that you need to allow the macro to access confluence. In case this happens follow the instructions located in the FAQ addressing this:

You can navigate using the tabs at the top of the survey creator (1). Each tab has its own purpose in the process of creating a survey.


A survey manager can create a survey in two different designer modes:

  • Basic

  • Advanced

Advanced designer mode more provide the user detailed control over some properties of the survey.

You can switch the designer mode in which you are creating the survey by clicking the bottom right toggle (2).


Saving the survey can be done by the buttons at the bottom right of the survey creator (3). There are three different options:

  • Save: Just saving the current state of the survey. All changes will be visible for other users. But you will continue to edit the survey.

  • Save & Exit: The state of the survey is saved and therefore visible for all users. You will leave the survey creator.

  • Exit: Your changes are not saved and you will leave the survey creator
